-- Penn State police say that after combing through video and photos, and going through student Web sites, they've identified more than 50 people who rushed the field at Beaver Stadium following the Penn State-Ohio State game Oct. 8.

He declined to say exactly how many people were identified, or how many people police believe were on the field without permission after the game. But after a month, he said, police have pretty much exhausted the number of people who can be identified.

Most students who were identified have been referred to the university's Office of Judicial Affairs, Parham said. Police are still considering whether to file criminal trespass charges or citations against the people they've identified.

After the Nittany Lions beat the Buckeyes, fans streamed over the railing and jumped onto the field. After about 30 minutes and several warnings from the stadium announcer to clear the field, police began driving the crowd off the field, according to earlier reports. Several fans reported being pepper-sprayed by police trying to clear the field.

To make the identifications, police used video footage taken by cameras mounted on top of the stadium, as well as photos and video taken by attendees.

In addition, investigators used students' Web sites and the Web site Facebook.com, on which students post personal profiles to link to friends and classmates. Users of the site can post photos and join groups, which Parham said police searched to find possible offenders.

After using the site as a jumping-off point, "We tried to confirm through other means that the name under the photo is the right name and that the photos wasn't doctored."
