"We were doing a design review for AquaOne Technologies with an acrylic tank and thought it would be fun to put some fish in it and have it flush without the fish going down," said David Parrish, co-creator of the novelty. "We all had a good laugh about it and then the next day one of the designers said he could make it work. We hid it in the closet for three months and then decided to take it to a trade show as a joke, a big spoof unveiling the big new idea we had."

Much to their surprise, it caught on. Thinking it was a fluke, they brought the contraption to another home show. People starting queuing up to see it, and television cameras started rolling, Parrish said.

Fish 'n Flush is a two-piece aquarium toilet tank designed by AquaOne Technologies Inc., an innovator of water-management systems. It fits most two-piece toilets with its design of an aquarium that wraps around a clear inner tank. The aquarium has a 2.2-gallon capacity, a convenient size for easy cleaning and maintenance. And it allows people with no room for an aquarium the opportunity to have fish - or to add a great conversation piece to their home.

Just add gravel and water, and you're ready for the fish. Smaller fish are obviously recommended. Check with the experts at your local pet store for additional suggestions to maximize your pleasure.

"It's been so long since anything inventive has been done with the toilet other than to make it work better," Parrish said. "We get calls from people now who are scrapbooking within the tanks, putting photos in between the tanks and one who put scorpions in it. I don't know about you, but I don't want a scorpion near my backside."

"I wanted to embellish my own plain white commode," the Kent State University graduate said. "The creation of Toilet Tattoos came from my realization that the options for decorating the toilet had been ignored and unchanged for many years. I believe there are people out there like me who would never consider using the germ-harboring 'rug' toilet topper and feel a decorative seat is too complicated, permanent and costly."

Toilet Tattoos range in design from elegant classic and theme patterns to seasonal and even include styles to help children with toilet training.

The tattoos are hygienic, removable and reusable. Made from an electrostatic vinyl film, they are easy to apply and wipe clean. Since they don't require adhesives, they can be changed as often as the toilet paper.
