Combine technology from the 19th and 21st centuries, and you can end up with this kind of evocative image. To capture sunset at Clearwater's Memorial Causeway Bridge, Times photographer Ted McLaren created a pinhole camera by piercing a sheet of brass with a sewing needle. Then he used black electrical tape to attach the brass to a Canon EOS-1D Mark II digital camera body instead of a lens. Times photographers recently fanned out with hand-made pinhole cameras, some digital, some with film, in celebration of Worldwide Pinhole Camera Day on Sunday.
