Decker Boulevard, 2200 block. Police were called to a gas station at 6 a.m. Wednesday after a cashier was robbed at gunpoint. The cashier told officers the robber asked for a pack of cigarettes. She turned to get his brand, and when she faced him again, he pointed a gun at her and demanded money from the register and her cell phone. He fled on foot.
Covenant Road, 3000 block. A woman called police at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after she got a copy of a bogus apartment lease on which someone had forged her name. The woman told officers she had never applied to live in the apartment nor co-signed for anyone else. She also said a collection agency called recently to say she owes almost $5,000 on another apartment. She never lived there either, she said.
Covenant Road, 3400 block. Police were called to an apartment complex at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday after staff members discovered piled paper on fire in a stairwell. Tuesday, another fire had been set outside the building, witnesses said. Damage was $200 in the second fire.
Lakeshore Drive, 5500 block. A woman called police at 9 a.m. Wednesday to report missing jewelry. The 81-year-old woman told officers her granddaughter had taken a jewelry box to her home and wouldn't give it back. She said the box held all of her jewelry, but she distinctly remembered two pieces that together are worth $1,100. She said two homemade, priceless wedding bands were also in the box. She said she tried to contact the granddaughter but the younger woman won't take her calls.
Byron Road, 300 block. A woman called police at noon Monday saying neighbors tried to assault her and her children with a beer bottle. She told officers she was walking her two children to the car when the bottle sailed by, barely missing them. She said she had an ongoing dispute with her neighbors and saw them running after the bottle was thrown.
Idlewood Circle, 100 block. A man called police at 5 p.m. Wednesday to say he was being harassed by telephone. He said another man called his home claiming to be from a government grants commission and saying that he needed the man's checking account information to deposit some money in his account. When the man refused to provide the information, he said the caller became furious and told the man he would rape his wife and 90-year-old mother and kill the man. The man hung up on the caller, but he said the man called back three times that night with the same threats.
Decker Boulevard, 2000 block. A woman called police at 5 p.m. Tuesday about damage to her car. She told deputies she had had her car washed and later noticed a scrape down the side. The carwash manager took photos of the damage, but a report said the alleged incident wasn't captured on company video cameras. Damage was estimated at $1,000.
Archie Drive, 100 block. Police were called to a home at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday after the resident found his car had been vandalized. He said he heard a noise, and when he went to investigate, someone had thrown a brick through the driver's side window. The man didn't see anyone. Damage was estimated at $300.
